School Policies

Welcome to the Aabuthnott Gallimore High School (AGHS) School Policies page. At AGHS, we are committed to fostering a safe, disciplined, and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Below you will find our core school policies designed to uphold our standards, support student development, and maintain an orderly school culture.

1. Attendance Policy

Regular and punctual attendance is essential to academic success.

  • School hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday

  • Students must attend all scheduled classes and activities unless officially excused.

  • A written excuse signed by a parent/guardian is required for absences.

  • Three or more unexplained absences may result in disciplinary action and parent/guardian notification.

2. Uniform & Dress Code Policy

Students must be properly attired in the official school uniform at all times while on campus or representing AGHS.

  • Uniforms must be neat, clean, and worn with pride.

  • No unauthorized alterations or accessories are allowed.

  • Hairstyles must be tidy and suitable for a school environment.

  • Jewelry should be minimal and non-distracting.

3. Discipline Policy

Our discipline policy is rooted in respect, responsibility, and restorative practices.

  • Respect for teachers, staff, peers, and school property is mandatory.

  • Bullying, fighting, stealing, or any form of misconduct will not be tolerated.

  • The school uses a demerit and detention system for minor infractions.

  • Serious offences may result in suspension or referral to the School Board.

4. Academic Integrity Policy

Academic honesty is a core value at AGHS.

  • Cheating, plagiarism, or tampering with academic records is strictly prohibited.

  • Students found in breach may face grade penalties, suspension, or further disciplinary measures.

5. Technology Use Policy

Students must use school technology and digital platforms responsibly.

  • School devices are for educational use only.

  • Cyberbullying, inappropriate websites, and unauthorized recording are strictly forbidden.

  • Students must follow all digital safety protocols provided by staff.

6. Mobile Phone Policy

AGHS has a strict policy regarding mobile phone usage.

  • Phones must be turned off and stored away during school hours unless authorized for educational purposes.

  • Unauthorized use may lead to confiscation and parent retrieval.

7. Health & Safety Policy

We prioritize the health and safety of all students and staff.

  • Students must adhere to all safety protocols, including emergency drills.

  • Any illness or injury must be reported to the school nurse or relevant authority immediately.

  • Smoking, alcohol, and drug use are strictly forbidden on campus.

8. Anti-Bullying Policy

Aabuthnott Gallimore High School is a zero-tolerance zone for bullying.

  • All forms of bullying—verbal, physical, cyber, or emotional—are unacceptable.

  • Students are encouraged to report bullying incidents to a teacher, guidance counselor, or school administrator.

  • Offenders may face suspension or further disciplinary action.

9. Parental Involvement Policy

We believe that active parental involvement enhances student success.

  • Parents are encouraged to attend PTA meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events.

  • Open communication with teachers and administration is welcomed and encouraged.

10. Grievance & Appeals Policy

Students and parents have the right to express concerns or appeal disciplinary decisions.

  • All grievances should be directed first to the class teacher or form supervisor.
